Kwanzaa began two days ago and the Minnesota History Center hosted an event on Saturday to celebrate the holiday.
The event touched on the seven different principles of the African-American tradition and had activities for participants, such as making community quilts to honor the first principle of unity and learning dances to honor the six principle of creativity.
Kwanzaa goes until Jan. 1. The History Center's annual Kwanzaa Celebration is typically held on one of the seven days of Kwanzaa in December.
During this year and in the past, it has featured music, African dance and drums, storytelling, fashion shows, craft activities and other activities.
