It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a Steven Seagal film, and I have always enjoyed his movies. He tends to play the same character, but all of his films are full of action and have some really great martial arts fights.
This past weekend I got the chance to see Anchor Bay’s “Force of Execution,” and I really enjoyed it a lot.
“Force of Execution” was written by Richard Beattie and Michael Black. The 2013 film was directed by Keoni Waxman.
Notable actors include Steven Seagal, Ving Rhames, Bren Foster and Danny Trejo.
Steven Seagal plays a mobster named Mr. Alexander who runs most of the city. Roman Hurst (Bren Foster) his right hand man, is sent into a prison to execute a snitch. The hit goes wrong and Mr. Alexander has Roman’s hands broken and makes Roman leave his lifestyle of crime.
After a few years, the snitch (Ving Rhames) gets out of prison. He wants to take over the city, so he starts a gang war with Mr. Alexander.
Roman Hurst returns with the help of a restaurant owner, (Danny Trejo) who is an ex-con. The pair must try and stop the gang war and get vengeance on the people that set him up for failure.
I thought that the story was well written. The action scenes were great and very exciting. I felt the martial art scenes were very well-choreographed and looked great.
The acting was fabulous. Steven Seagal plays a soft spoken, but yet very tough character. He was great at it.
The other actors also did an amazing job, especially “The Iceman” character played by Ving Rhames. He was tough and seemed like a true gangster.
Anchor Bay’s “Force of Execution” is a two pack. You get both a DVD and a Blu-ray version of the film.
There is also a special feature, called “Force of Execution: Behind the Story,” that includes interviews with the actors. I really liked this and thought it was great. The actors talk about making the film, and you see behind-the-scenes footage.
I really enjoyed Anchor Bay’s “Force of Execution." I thought the story was very entertaining and full of nonstop action. The acting was great, and I liked that both a DVD and Blu-ray came packaged together. The special feature was also fun to watch. If you are a fan of action movies, I would highly recommend that you check out “Force of Execution.”
“Force of Execution” is rated “R”
