The Minneapolis Public School District expects to add more than 4,000 students in the next five years.
A plan to deal with the increasing enrollment includes opening five new schools that are currently closed. The plan also includes adding additions or renovations to three other schools and expanding school programs for students.
The district also wants to focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and math programs – otherwise known as STEAM – and expanding early childhood education.
