I am a huge fan of Transformers, and I still watch the animated show whenever I can.

This past week I got the chance to watch a review Blu-ray copy of Shout Factory’s “Transformers Prime: Season Three – Beast Hunters.”  This is the final season, and it is the most exciting season yet in my opinion.

The AUTOBOTS, lead by Optimus Prime, are still at war with the DECEPTICONS. They go on a mission to defend Earth from the DECEPTICONS so they may one day restore their planet, CYBERTRON.

In this season, the DECEPTICONS are more powerful than ever. They destroy the AUTOBOT’s base and scatter the AUTOBOTS across the country, leaving them without a way to communicate with each other.

While the AUTOBOTS are trying to find one another, the DECEPTICONS develop a weapon that could give them the upper-hand and win the war with the AUTOBOTS.

The AUTOBOTS must reunite and stop the DECEPTICONS from destroying the Earth and prevent them from winning the war with their new weapon.

I thought that the story was very well written. There was a lot of emotion put into the story and you could feel that while you were watching it. There are many scenes that will leave you on the edge of your seat and the action does not stop.

The animation looked fabulous. I really liked the style, which was a mixture of CGI and 2-D animation. I think complement each other very well.  The Transformers are very detailed and look amazing, especially during the battle sequences.

Another thing that I really liked about “Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters” is that there is an all-star cast that does the voices for the show.  They include: Peter Cullen, Frank Welker, Josh Keaton, Jeffrey Combs, Kevin Michael Richardson, Will Friedle Sumalee Montano, Ernie Hudson, Gina Torres, John Noble, George Taki, Mark Post and Steve Blum. Each of the characters sounded grea. It was really fun to try to figure out who was doing the voice of each Transformer.

There are a few bonus features on the Blu-ray that are pretty neat to watch. There are audio commentaries to some of the episodes, along with a special “Transformers Prime” panel at the San Diego Comic-Con Convention that was held this year. I think that fans of the series will find these entertaining.
