Non-smokers in Minnesota, like Gary Brausen, are asking people to check their perceptions of lung cancer.

Lung cancer, according to The American Cancer Society, is expected to kill 2,500 Minnesotans this year. That's more than any other cancer.

However, fundraising advocates at A Breath of Hope Lung Foundation say less deadly cancers can generate ten times the funding lung cancer does.

Fundraisers blame the smoking stigma associated with lung cancer.

However, they're asking people to consider that approximately 15 percent of the people who get lung cancer have never smoked.

People can get lung cancer, according to the Minnesota Department of Health, from secondhand smoke, radon, and workplace carcinogens.
