Burnsville firefighters are asking Minnesotans to adopt a hydrant this snow season.

All it means is clearing the snow around the hydrant near you after snow falls.

Snow-covered hydrants pose a significant risk by delaying rescue times for firefighters.

Firefighters need about a 3 foot perimeter cleared around each hydrant.
