Is your Christmas tree set up yet? Did you get a real one this year?
With about three weeks until Christmas, the National Christmas Tree Association is offering tips on how you can keep your tree alive and green until the New Year.
Experts say you should make sure the stand fits so you don’t whittle the sides of the trunk because the outer layers of wood are the most efficient in taking up water. They also say you shouldn’t drill a hole in the base of the trunk because it won’t improve water uptake.
Also, keep trees away from major sources of heat. If you can lower the room temperature, it will slow the drying process.
