Water meters are the center of a controversy in Stillwater.

The city is requiring people to install wireless water meters. It's free but some are opposed to the change. The meters use radio frequency signals to send information.

One woman says those signals make her so sick, she had someone take the battery out of the meter. "Within 15 minutes I felt a difference, I felt better. I did not feel nausea all day long. I did not have to go outside and sit on my porch."

Thursday the board passed other options for homeowners who don't want the new meters.

Those who don't want the wireless version can pay an additional fee for a non-radio meter instead.

Other cities like South St. Paul and St. Paul also have the wireless water meters.
