In this week's edition of At Issue, host Tom Hauser takes an in-depth look at the local political issues that affect you.

After 48 hours of ranked-choice ballot counting for 35 candidates, Betsy Hodges is Minneapolis' Mayor-elect. Hodges met for lunch Thursday with newly re-elected St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman.

In the St. Paul mayoral race, incumbent Chris Coleman easily won a third term, scoring 78 percent of first-choice votes in the city’s ranked-choice election.

Since Election Day, suggestions for improving the process have been surfacing - especially one that would raise the filing fee for Minneapolis mayor from $20 to $500 to deal with frivolous candidates. The Minneapolis Charter Commission voted unanimously to raise the fee, but it still needs city or voter approval.

Abdi Warsame unseated incumbent Robert Liligren on the Minneapolis City Council, making him the first Somali-American to hold a seat on the council and the highest elected official of Somali descent in the country.

Warsame is one of seven new faces elected to the 13-member Minneapolis City Council. All three incumbents were unseated.

A second person could be released from the state’s 18-year-old sex offender program, and the prospect is creating political and public safety controversy. The first person released from the program hasn’t re-offended, but victims are still calling for 58-year-old Thomas Duvall to remain in the sex offender treatment program. Duvall has at least 60 victims.

In Political Analysis, DFL strategist Elizabeth Emerson and Republican lobbyist Brian McDaniel joined host Tom Hauser in the studio to review ranked-choice voting and the state sex offender program.

In Face off, former DFL House Minority Leader Matt Entenza and Freedom Foundation of Minnesota CEO Annette Meeks discussed the ongoing problems with health care overhaul and levies in Minnesota schools.
