An independent film will feature the town of Excelsior.
A Wisconsin-based production company chose Excelsior for the lake views and its small, historic downtown.
A crew says along with a few recognizable names, the film stars Minnesotans. But that's not the only local perk.
"We also don't want to do the usual model of Hollywood coming here, using the town and disappearing, and the profit never sees the light of day. We want the benefit for the movie to stay here where we shoot it," said writer and director Scott Thompson.
The film is called "One Song." It's described as an emotional drama.
Filming should take about three weeks.
Melissa Gilbert, Barbara Eden and Sally Kellerman all play a part.
