The top-ranked Gophers men's hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie with 5th-ranked Boston College Friday night at Mariucci Arena.
The Gophers opened the scoring just 30 seconds into the 1st period. Freshman Hudson Fasching scored his 3rd goal of the season off a rebound to make it 1-0 Minnesota. The Gophers made it 2-0 when Kyle Rau set-up Travis Boyd on the backdoor for a power play goal.
Boston College stormed back later in the 1st period. A Johnny Gaudreau goal cut Minnesota's lead to 2-1, and a pair of goals from Edina native Michael Sit gave the Eagles a 3-2 at the end of the 1st period.
The Gophers evened the score in the 2nd period when freshman Taylor Cammarata scored his 2nd goal this season. Neither team scored in the 3rd, and the Gophers missed a couple good chances in overtime, so the game officially ended in a 3-3 tie.
They held a meaningless post-game shootout, which Boston College won 2-1.
The two teams meet again on Sunday at 1:10pm.
