Pattie Seitz and her friends are up for a scare.

"I don't like the dark, I'm afraid of the dark," Seitz said.

It's Seitz's first time coming to Soap Factory's Haunted Basement.

"My friends made me come here," she said.

It's a terrifying experience.

Noah Bremer is running the show this year for the Haunted Basement. He says, planning for the show starts in February. It's a massive undertaking of looking for a theme, ideas and then training.

"We also use smell sensory depravation, psychological methods, to really get people uneasy," he said.

But before all of it is revealed to the public, inspections of the facility are required.

"We submitted a plan with the Fire Marshal. He came by, did a walk through, gave us a few notes, made a few corrections and we're set to go," Bremer said.

Inspections of haunted houses in the city of Minneapolis are done by the fire department. Typically they do one look over but if they see something that concerns them they will come back. By and large the inspections are made of checking for exit signs, fire alarms and sprinklers to name a few. One thing they stress is for the operator to follow their allotted occupancy number.

As Seitz and her friends walk up the stairs from the basement, it appears they enjoyed themselves.
