With Thanksgiving around the corner, it is a good time to make sure your fridge will store all of the food you plan on making.

Refrigerators are the kitchen appliances used the most, and Angie Hicks, founder of Angie's List said sometimes a replacement might be a better option than repair.

"If it's more than 10 years old and it's broken down, consider a new one, especially if the cost of repairing it is half the cost of a new refrigerator," Hicks said.

Hicks said a new fridge can start at $400 and go up to a few thousand dollars.

Adam Clinton bought a popular stainless steel model when his kitchen was remolded.

"We decided that new appliances and upgrading was one of the most important things we needed to do," Clinton said.

If the Clintons ever sell their home, they know their kitchen and new appliance will be in high demand, but appliance expert Vernon Schmidt warned against buying a fridge that has a television.

"There are a lot more things that can go wrong because of the new one, because of the electronics, but you save a ton of energy with them," Schmidt said.
