A plan to permanently close two major downtown streets might not happen after all.
When the Vikings stadium plans were announced, there was a plan to put a nine-acre park in downtown Minneapolis. To make that happen, Park and Portland Avenues would have to be closed.
Now, the Pioneer Press is reporting that Ryan Companies told the planning commission it’s scrapping the plans that would have closed the avenues.
Instead, it wants to build a 125-unit apartment building in part of the area.
