A power outage Thursday morning affected about 12,500 customers across the Twin Cities metro area.
Xcel Energy has reported that 12,000 of those customers had power restored by 12:12 p.m., following the outage that started at 11:10 a.m. The outage affected areas in Blaine, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Fridley, Mounds View, New Brighton and Spring Lake Park.
A large breaker at a substation had to be replaced, which caused the outage. As of Thursday afternoon, work is still being done to continue restoring power in those areas.
