As America remembers Sept. 11, 2001, every year, a new symbol of pride is taking shape along the New York skyline.

This commemorative time-lapse shows construction of One World Trade Center, also known as the Freedom Tower, over the past nine years.

The spire on top makes the building the tallest in the nation at 1,776 feet. The building is expected to open for business within the next two years.
