HIV research at the University of Minnesota is getting a major boost.

The National Institutes of Health will give researchers more than $5 million to test a new treatment.
The treatment uses an FDA approved drug that reverses tissue damage caused by HIV. Researchers hope this will help restore immune cells.
If the trial is successful it could help protect HIV patients from certain diseases, helping them live longer.
