In Hammond, Wisconsin the grass is dry, the corn is dry and Shanon Wildes' faucet is dry.

She gets her water from a 100-foot well, and she noticed the water pressure decreasing over the past week. Then on Wednesday afternoon it just sputtered out.

"You're not able to cook, use the restroom, do the laundry, shower," she said.

The ground water levels have been decreasing in certain parts of St. Croix County due to the lack of rain.  The situation is compounded by the fact that the Wildes' home borders a golf course with an extensive sprinkler system, and there are nearby farmers who irrigate.

She's trying to decide if she can get by with a new pump and motor, or if she needs to dig a deeper well which could cost thousands.

One local drilling company says this is a problem that's been sprinkled across the area, but that there are a lot of factors that go into it like well depth, location of groundwater sources and the direction they flow.
