DWI Enforcement Up on MN Roads Through Labor Day
DWI enforcement has stepped up on Minnesota roads.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety announced a statewide DWI enforcement campaign, called Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, running through Labor Day.
State troopers will be posting live tweets of DWI arrests in the Twin Cities area, with the posts being updated on digital billboards in the metro. The updates will include age, gender, location of arrest and the alcohol-concentration level.
Arrests can be followed on Twitter at @MnDPS_OTS, #onelessdrunkdriver.
Preliminary figures from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety show there were 225 arrests for DWI on Friday.
Drunken driving accounts for nearly a third of Minnesota crash deaths annually, according to the public safety department. Nearly 30,000 people are arrested for DWI a year.
