BCA Report: Minn. Violent Crimes Up Slightly in 2012
There was a slight rise in serious crimes in Minnesota in 2012, according to the Department of Public Safety.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension released its 2012 Uniform Crime Report Monday.
The report shows a 3.4 percent increase in violent crimes compared to 2011.
According to the BCA, although in 2012 murders saw a 26 percent increase over 2011, data collected over the past five years show significant fluctuation in the number.
Rapes had a slightly lower rate in 2012 than had been seen in 2008-2011.
Robbery continued a steady downward trend and aggravated assault had a small increase. This comes after robbery showed steady declines over the past several years.
