One out of every 10 Minnesotans is at risk of going hungry on any given day, children are one of the hardest hit groups needing food assistance.
Second Harvest Heartland is hosting is 2nd Annual Pack-a-Thon event on Saturday, July 20 from 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and they want volunteers.
You can sign up as an individual, or as a team for two-hour shifts.
"Our goal is 260,000 meals on that day, so we expect that every person who signs up to pack will be providing several hundred meals just on that one day in that 2 hour shift," says Marsha Shotley of Second Harvest Heartland.
Chris Gottshall has donated money in the past, but says this is the event that made him not just a donor, but a doer.
"Anybody who knows they can walk into the kitchen to get food, owes it to their community to help make sure others don't have to worry, " he says.
Volunteers need to be at least 8 years old. There is a $25 registration fee.
There will be music, mascots, and more.
