WEB EXTRA: 'No Wake' Rule Expected Wednesday for St. Croix River

We've gotten anywhere from four to nine inches of rain in parts of the metro over the past several weeks.

The Mississippi River has had all the rain it can handle.

It's backing up the St. Croix River and raising the river level. Once the water level tops 683 feet, a 'no wake' rule goes into effect to prevent erosion on the sides of the bluffs.

It's expected a 'no wake' rule will go into effect Wednesday from Taylors Falls to Prescott through the July Fourth holiday.

That affects boaters who won't be able to haul tubers or skiers.

Once the signs go up, the DNR will be enforcing the rule. Violators can get a costly ticket of $140.
