5 Eyewitness News is helping Minnesota kids get healthy food through our Summer Harvest campaign.

In Dakota county, the Eagan and Lakeville Resource Centers have launched a mobile pantry.

Each Wednesday, volunteers load a bus and head out to Inver Hills Community College where those in need gather food for their families.

"Students here are able to access the mobile pantry every 30 days and receive about  two and a half weeks of food, " said Lisa Horn, executive director of the Eagan and Lakeville Resource Centers.

Volunteer Mary Schrader said it is a rewarding job, and it truly is filling a need.

"They do get choices, hopefully they can get food to bring home and make complete meals for the family for several weeks," says Schrader.

Forty-nine percent of those served at the resource center are children. Volunteers believe every person deserves healthy food and they work every day to make that happen.
