A 23-year-old man is charged after he allegedly tried to rob a man at an Anoka County bank.

According to Columbia Heights Police, Matthew St. Clair Scott was charged with attempted simple robbery.

Officers responded to US Bank Tuesday on a report of a man who had just been robbed.

The victim had stopped at the bank to drop off a night deposit around 9:51 p.m. when he heard someone approaching from behind.

The victim turned, and saw a person wearing a mask and hood.

The suspect, later identified as Scott, grabbed the victim and the bag of money he was holding. The victim began to fight with Scott.

The victim hit Scott several times and was able to call 911.

Scott is currently being held in the Anoka County Jail.

At this point, it's unclear which US Bank location this incident took place at.
