Rick Ringeisen, a teacher and coach at Lakeville South High School, has been inducted into the Minnesota Swimming Hall of Fame.

Ringeisen, of Lakeville, grew up on a local lake where he learned to swim at an early age, according to the Lakeville school district. He played multiple sports growing up, but eventually concentrated on swimming while attending college at Winona State University.

After college, he began teaching social studies and coaching for the Lakeville school district.

Ringeisen has since coached more than 100 continuous high school sport seasons, including girls swimming, boys swimming and track and field.

For years, Ringeisen coached with Dan Schneider, leading the girls and boys high school teams. He also led the boys' team while breaking every state relay record. When the city's high school split in fall 2005, Ringeisen became head swimming coach at Lakeville South.

Twice, Ringeisen earned the honor of Minnesota State Coach of the Year.

His teams won 19 conference championships, 20 section championships, eight True Team and three Minnesota State High School League championships. He also coached 11 individual state champions in his specialty, the throws events.

In addition to coaching, Ringeisen has served on many sports organizations.
