Study Links Childhood ADHD to Adulthood Obesity
Having ADHD as a child could increase your risk of being overweight later in life.
A new study finds a strong link between childhood ADHD and obesity as an adult. New York University researchers followed more than 200 children through adulthood. They found that men with childhood ADHD are twice as likely to experience a higher Body Mass Index and obesity rates in adulthood than men without it.
Researchers think the link may be due to a lack of impulse control and poor planning skills, which are often associated with ADHD.
The details of the study are online in the journal Pediatrics.
