Study: Simple Exercise Could Reduce Cancer Risk
We all know that being active is good for your health. Now, we’re hearing that it could also lower the risk of getting cancer.
Studies have shown that increased physical activity is linked to a lower risk of breast, colon, endometrial and prostate cancers.
Regular exercise is always best, but research also says that something as simple as getting up every few hours and moving around can reduce the risk as well.
"Merely sitting the entire day can put you at risk for some cancers, according to some research, and so just getting up through the course of the day every hour and walking around, something that simple can minimize the risk for cancer perhaps,” Dr. Dale Shepard of Cleveland Clinic said.
If you have a desk job, it’s a good idea to give yourself a reason to get up and move, like using the copy machine farthest away or getting an occasional drink of water.
