Coleman was first elected in 2005 and won a new term in 2009. He opted against a run for governor in 2010 after giving it considerable thought.
In Minneapolis, Mayor R.T. Rybak is stepping down after three terms. There are currently six candidates, and the deadline to file as a candidate is July 30.
The League of Women Voters hosted a forum Wednesday evening for the candidates vying to be the next mayor of Minneapolis.
