Woman Charged with Kidnapping Mpls Baby Appears in Court
A woman charged with kidnapping a baby boy from a south Minneapolis home appeared in court Tuesday.
Thirty-year-old Isabel Diaz-Castillo was arrested in February after a four hour search for 8-month-old Carlos Orozco.
Police found her with the boy in the basement of a relative's home.
The boy was reunited with his mother, who Diaz-Castillo had recently become friends with.
Diaz-Castillo appeared in a Hennepin County court room Tuesday morning.
A judge has ordered a competency hearing. That hearing is scheduled for May 1 at 8:30 a.m.
Diaz-Castillo remains in jail and faces up to four years in prison.
Bail was previously set at $100,000 due to immigration issues.
