Details on Federal Cuts Proposed for Minnesota Airports

Federal aviation officials are considering automatic federal budget cuts. Employees and local airports could be affected by the cuts, including air traffic control towers.

Below is information about how the proposed cuts could affect Minnesota airports, according to the Federal Aviation Administration:

  • Click here for a current list of proposed facilities that could be affected by reductions, closures or both. Also, read a letter from the FAA administrator and the U.S. Secretary of Transportation about the reductions.
  • Click here for information about furloughs, which could affect nearly all of the FAA's 47,200 employees. The list includes air traffic controllers, maintenance technicians, administrative support, management and others. Employees who provide safety training and investigate aircraft crashes could also be affected.
