Legislators Urge Audit of Minnesota Orchestra Association

State Representative Jim Davnie, Rep. Rick Hansen, and other legislators held a press conference Thursday to talk about the Minnesota Orchestra lockout and the state’s involvement with the Minnesota Orchestra Association.

Some legislators are asking the Office of the Legislative Auditor to audit the association. Davnie says the legislature has invested millions in bonding and Legacy dollars for the orchestra and that it’s in the best interest of the legislature to make sure Minnesotans can attend concerts as soon as possible.

A spokesperson for the Minnesota Orchestra says the orchestra has already sequestered the Legacy funds in a separate escrow account until the labor dispute is resolved and that the orchestra would be happy to work with the Legislative Auditor to fully share the financial position of the Minnesota Orchestra.
