Wild Can't Overcome Early Deficit In Chicago

The Minnesota Wild fell behind 4-1 in the first period and never recovered, allowing the Chicago Blackhawks to run their season-opening record point streak to 23 straight games.

Minnesota's Devin Setoguchi opened the scoring, but Chicago's Bryan Bickell netted two of the Blackhawks four unanswered goals the rest of the first period.

The Wild pulled starting goalie Nicklas Backstrom in favor of backup Darcy Kuemper, leading to a scoreless second period.

Ryan Suter and Kyle Brodziak each scored for the Wild in the third to close to within 4-3, but the Blackhawks sealed the win with a Patrick Kane tally for the 5-3 win.

The Wild next play Friday in Nashville.
