Donation Deadline Nears for St. Francis 'Pennies for Patients' Initiative

A St. Francis school will be participating in a national Pennies for Patients program.

Cedar Creek Community School is collecting pennies for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Various schools in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota are participating in the 22nd annual event.

Students are asked to bring in loose change to support the cause. Also during the initiative, 40 local students who are survivors of leukemia or lymphoma will be honored. You can read their stories here.

According to the St. Francis school district, students donated $860,000 locally and $27 million nationally last year for research and patient services. Cedar Creek donated $2,000 of that.

Donations will be accepted through Wednesday, March 13. Checks will also be accepted that are made payable to LLS or Pennies for Patients.
