American Birkebeiner Comes to Wisconsin

The fresh coating of snow is just what thousands of cross-country skiers were hoping for; this weekend is the American Birkebeiner in Northern Wisconsin.

Skiers will take off at 8 a.m. Saturday from Cable, Wis. The Birkie – known as the largest Nordic ski race in North America – is bringing in skiers from 21 countries. More than 13,000 people will ski the 50K course.

Organizers are expecting a record turnout.
