Gopher Wrestler Ineligible Over Online Video

The University of Minnesota has declared a wrestler ineligible to compete because he's refused to remove songs and videos that feature him online.

NCAA rules prohibit athletes from using their name or image for commercial use, including songs affiliated with a music career.

University compliance director J.T. Bruett says Joel Bauman was asked to remove his likeness from video and music accounts, but he chose not to comply. If Bauman used an alias or didn't refer to himself as a University of Minnesota wrestler he could continue with the videos.

Bauman tells KARE-TV he's not changing his name and he's not leaving the team. Even though he can't compete, Bauman still attends practice.
