Minn. DFL Bill Would Raise Minimum Wage to $9.50
President Barack Obama wants to increase the federal minimum wage.
"Tonight,
let's declare that in the wealthiest nation on earth, no one who works full-time should have to live in poverty, and raise the federal minimum wage to $9.00 an hour," said President Obama during his State of the Union address Tuesday night.
Right now it's $7.25, which is also the minimum in Minnesota. And lawmakers here want to raise it too.
A press conference is set for today. Minnesota DFL party members will talk about their bill that would bring the state minimum wage up to $9.50.
