Water Patrol Calls Ice Safety Measures a Success

Hennepin County Water Patrol is calling the orange safety fencing and thin ice signs on Lake Minnetonka a success.

Twenty vehicles have gone through the ice on Lake Minnetonka this year. Three people have died.

Normally the Water Patrol puts up thin ice signs,  but the last two people to break through drove right past the signs.

Last week, they decided to put up orange fencing around 15 channels. Since then no vehicles have gone through the ice.

A warning if you decide to drive through the signs and fencing - you can get a ticket.
