VIDEO: Gophers Unveil Throwback Jersey For Outdoor Game

The Gophers will wear a 50-year-old version of their maroon and gold sweater for Sunday's outdoor game against Wisconsin at Soldier Field in Chicago.

The uniform is a replica of the Gophers' jersey from the 1960-1961 season.  At unveiling ceremonies on the outdoor rink at Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis, head coach Don Lucia pointed out those years marked the start of a resurgence in Gopher hockey, spearheaded by then-freshman Lou Nanne.

After Sunday's "OfficeMax Hockey City Classic" game, the throwback jerseys will be auctioned off to raise money for Defending The Blue Line, a group that provides hockey opportunities for combat veterans and their families.
