Wrong-Way Driver Leads Police on Chase, Crashes into Median

A wrong-way driver led police on a chase through the West Metro before finally crashing into a median.

Minnetonka Police say a car was clocked going 97 mph on Interstate-394 at Hopkins Crossroads. The car allegedly led police on a chase through Minnetonka, Plymouth, Brooklyn Park, and Brooklyn Center.

Police say the car was going the wrong way on Interstate-694, so the State Patrol closed part of the road to prevent head-on collisions.

The driver eventually crashed into the median at Shingle Creek Parkway in Brooklyn Center. No injuries were reported, and the suspect was taken to Hennepin County Jail on suspicion of DWI.

He was identified as 32-year-old Brian Michael Edwards.

Earlier this week, a wrong-way driver crashed into another vehicle in Arden Hills.
