Study: Air Quality Affects Birth Weight

The air a pregnant mom breaths could affect her child’s birth weight.

Researchers from 14 cities in nine different countries studied 3 million births. They found women exposed to high levels of air pollution had an increased chance of having babies with low birth weights.

Low birth weight is considered any weight under 5 pounds, 8 ounces and is associated with increased infant mortality as well as childhood and adult diseases.
