As a freshman last season, Henry Ellenson saw his older brother Wally go through the recruiting process and land with the Minnesota Gophers.
"You always watched ESPN and saw guys on the big stage and now your brother's on it," Henry Ellenson says. "It's humbling."
Now a sophomore, Henry is drawing more attention from colleges than his older brother did.
"My first offer, I was surprised," he says. "It's been humbling ever since just hearing the next one come in... It's fun. It's a fun process."
Rice Lake coach Kevin Orr feels Henry learned many lessons watching Wally go through the recruiting process.
"By seeing his older brother go thru it, how everything goes, I think it does make it a lot easier for him and his family," Orr says.
While the elder Ellenson made his name at Rice Lake with incredible leaping ability that sometimes made it feel he might scrape his head on the ceiling of the gym. Henry doesn't need to rely on explosive legs. At 6-foot-9, he's already halfway to the rafters.
"My game is... I'm always trying to attack," Henry says. "(Wally's) game... he can play above the rim all the time. I don't have that bounce like he does, but I can still hit the three and do things that he cant - like post up because he doesn't have the size like I do."
Scary part is - just a sophomore - Henry may still be growing.
"I was 6'7 last year and now i'm 6-9," Henry says. "Last year I wasn't able to pound kids in the paint like I get to now."
But you'd be missing out if you only sized up Ellenson's game with a tape measure.
"He's really agile," Orr says. "If you see him play, you'll see him get the rebound and go with it. It's pretty impressive to see a 6-9 kid handle the basketball the way he does."
Henry has an easy explanation for his well-rounded game.
"I always played out with my older brothers, so I was always the little guy," he laughs. "I had to find a way to score."
With Wally already on campus at the "U", middle brother Elwood graduating this year... what happens once Henry - the youngest of the three Ellenson boys picks a college and departs Rice Lake?
"They do have a daughter coming up," Orr says with a smile. "Maybe I'll switch over to coach the girls."
