Deer Hunt Turns Controversial in St. Louis Park

The City of St. Louis Park has terminated its deer hunting contractor for what the city manager said were 'inexcusable actions'.

The move comes after neighbors in the northeast part of the city reported last week that deer were being removed from an area. The city said that area and time was not permitted. St. Louis Park City Manager Tom Harmening issued a statement saying the city acted quickly and terminated its contract with Whitetail Management Company after instructions were not followed.

"What the contractor did was inexcusable and the city has terminated its relationship with this contractor.  In addition, for the time being the city has ceased deer removal activities in the community as it evaluates and considers its wildlife management procedures," Harmening said in a statement.

Superior Whitetail Management Company has said it was a bug misunderstanding and they followed all protocol.
