Wis. Native Honored with Bronze Star Medal

A Wisconsin Marine now holds one of the highest combat honors.

This weekend, Lance Corporal Nicholas O’Brien was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his heroism while serving in Afghanistan.

In March 2010, his company was ambushed and several were wounded. He took charge and was able to get fellow soldiers out in the middle of gunfire.

The Appleton native has served in the Marines for five years.
