Preps Under Way for Opening of GiGi's Playhouse

An educational and developmental center for people with Down syndrome is going up in the west metro.

Volunteers assembled furniture at GiGi's Playhouse Twin Cities in Saint Louis Park Saturday. The 5,000-foot space will host tutoring, physical therapy and play activities.

Parents of children with Down syndrome can also use the services, which are provided free of charge.

A grand opening is set for Feb. 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature food, fun, family entertainment and a chance to learn more about programs and services.

The second annual GiGi's Playhouse Twin Cities "I Have a Voice" Gala will be held Feb. 23 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. All proceeds will benefit GiGi's Playhouse Twin Cities.
