Saint Paul Groups Want City to Tear Down 'Skyway to Nowhere'
Many in Saint Paul call it "the skyway to nowhere." Now, some community groups want it torn down.
The unused skyway has stretched over Wabasha Street from the Macy's department store for more than a decade. The groups sent a letter to Mayor Chris Coleman asking the city to remove the skyway calling it an eyesore.
The Mayor's Office tells us there are no plans to remove the skyway, it would cost $30,000 to $40,000 to tear it down, and the skyway is structurally sound. No word yet on how Macy's closing will effect the future of the skyway.
