Local Students Send Experiment into Space

Students at Minnehaha Academy are working on the science experiment of a lifetime.

The team of 16 students was the only team in the Midwest picked by NASA to dream-up and build an experiment to be launched up to the International Space Station.

Their experiment will test how polymers, which are in everything from paint to plastic, behave without gravity.

"Most scientists will never ever get to do what we got to do in high school, so it's pretty cool being able to say that for the rest of your life," said junior Hugh Mayo.

Their project will be sent up along with seven others from across the country this March. Then their results will be sent back from space.
