Waconia School Evacuated After Fire Set in Bathroom

Authorities say a smoky fire set in a men's bathroom forced the evacuation of a Twin Cities area high school.

The Carver County sheriff's office says someone set fire to three rolls of toilet paper in the restroom at Waconia (wah-KOHN'-ee-uh) High School. Crews were called after someone reported smoke coming from the restroom around 10:15 a.m. Monday.

The school was evacuated. The Waconia Fire Department put the fire out with a fire extinguisher and ventilated the area.

No one was hurt, but the bathroom was damaged. The fire is under investigation.
