Man Charged for Sexual Assault of Stranger

A 43-year-old man was charged for allegedly sexually assaulting a stranger.

Kenneth Owens, was arrested Wednesday for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and charged Friday with Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree.

Police say the assault happened near 34th Street East and Chicago Avenue South around 3 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

The 33-year-old victim said she had been followed off a bus and assaulted by a man she didn’t know.

Citizens who saw the suspect's photo called police with tips. Owens was located on the 500 block of Oliver Avenue North and arrested without incident.

Owens is being held in the Hennepin County Jail.
