Patient Allegedly Assaults Doctor at Unity Hospital

A 46-year-old man was charged after allegedly assaulting a doctor in an emergency room.

Fridley police officers were called to Unity hospital on the afternoon of Monday, Dec. 10. According to the criminal complaint, 46-year-old Michael Anthony McDonald was being treated at the emergency room for an injury when he became agitated.

The treating doctor tried to control McDonald, and McDonald allegedly head-butted him. The doctor had swelling and redness around his right eye.

McDonald has been charged with fourth degree assault. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison and up to $4,000 in fines.
