INTERVIEW: Union Depot Design-Build Team Leader

After a two year, $243 million renovation, Union Depot in St. Paul re-opens Saturday.

The new Union Depot will serve as a transportation hub with more than 300 buses each day, including 33 hybrid-electric ones rolled out Saturday.

It will also serve as a stop for train passengers and, starting July 2014, light rail passengers.

Officials expect the new facility to impact a wide area.

The man who led the design-build team, Dan Mehls of Mortenson Construction, stopped by to tell us about it.
